A Cosmic PeVatron in the Galactic Center

The recent spectroscopic and morphological studies of the Central Molecular Zone (CMZ) of the Galactic Center in very high energy gamma-rays initiated new ideas regarding the location and origin of the accelerator of parent ultrarelaticistic particles. I will discuss the implications of these results for a broad range of issues related to the central Supermassive Black Hole and to the origin of Galactic Cosmic Rays.
