Spectrum X-Gamma mission News, (Nov. 1999), part 2

X-ray image of two steel blades placed above the detector window is shown. Radioactive source Fe-55 (5.9 keV) was used for detector illumination. MWPC of KFRD has 150x150 mm position sensitive area. Diameter of detector entrance beryllium window is 125 mm. Periodical structure due to anode wires modulation in one dimension (at 3 mm pitch) and support grid shadow (step is about 15 mm) one can see on the picture. Three spots from collimated Fe-55 radioactive sources there are on the image.

X-ray image of two metal details placed above detector window is shown. Exposure condition is the same as for previous picture.

X-ray image of two steel blades obtained by another KFRD flight model detector is shown. In this case radioactive source Cd-109 (22.1 keV) was used for exposure. The expected transparency of thin blades at 22.1 keV energy is easily observed. There is one spot at the top of image caused by emission from Cd-109 calibration source.
